Jesus Said, Abraham Said

"Jesus said, Abraham said."

Consider:

Luke 16:29 (KJV), "Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them".

The Rich Man in torment called out for mercy for his Family, and this was Abraham's response!

Abraham, the "Father of Justification by Faith", the one who pleased God, Gods "Friend",....the one that pretty much the entire new Testament system of Justification is built upon.....

What did he say could be the means of the Rich Mans Family's salvation?

"They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them."

And on top of that, "Jesus said, Abraham said", so.....Jesus agrees!

Abraham was Justified before the Law was written, so its not saying that Justification is by the Law...because if it was, Abraham himself could not be Justified because it didn't exist when he lived on earth.

But this IS saying something.....I think it is saying what David said of it. In Psalms 19:7, it says the law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: The Law is written to Convert the World...as Paul said in Romans 3:19, "Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God".

All of the Rich Mans family needed to be converted, and have their mouths and excuses stopped!

And that's EXACTLY what the Law does to those who hear it!

It shows what sin is, and how evil man is, and how good God is.

This leads us to see the NEED for Justification by Faith.

Galatians 3:24 it says, "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith". Once you are filled with the Spirit of God, you have the Law written on the Inside....not just on paper on the outside. Jeremiah 31:33 says, "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people."

Jesus Said, Abraham Said, to listen to Moses and the Prophets—

John 5:46, "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me."
